HOW DO I PICK MY ROSTER?
- Each player in a DraftKings game is given a fixed salary cap of $50,000. This salary is used to draft a “roster” of five fighters.
- Every fighter scheduled to appear on an event will be eligible to be drafted. Each fighter will be assigned a salary value at the beginning of the event, which will not change once the event is in progress.
- At the beginning of the game, you will select five fighters while staying under the $50,000 salary cap.
- Event results and winners are based on the total number of fantasy points scored by each player’s five-fighter “roster”.
HOW DOES SCORING WORK?
Points in a Draft Kings MMA Contest are given for two reasons: things that occur during the fight and the results of the fight. During the fight, points are issued as follows:
- Significant Strikes – .5 points
- Positional Advance (i.e., guard to half guard): 1 point
- Takedown: 2 points
- Reversal/Sweep: 2 points
- Knockdown: 3 points
Following each fight, bonus points are assessed based on the fight results, as follows:
- 1st Round Win: 100 points
- 2nd Round Win: 70 points
- 3rd Round Win: 50 points
- 4th Round Win: 40 points
- 5th Round Win: 40 points
- Decision Win: 25 points
HOW SOON BEFORE AN EVENT DO I HAVE TO PICK MY ROSTER?
DraftKings contest lobbies typically close five minutes before the beginning of an event, so you have right up until fight time to sign up, put together your roster, and start making money on DraftKings Fantasy MMA. 24 hours before each event, the official closing times for the lobby will be announced.
ARE FIGHTS SCORED LIVE?
DraftKings does provide live scoring during each event, but those live scores are not official and are for informational purposes only. At the conclusion of each contest, official scores from FightMetric will be posted, which will determine official results. Usually, official results are available shortly after the end of an event, although sometimes FightMetric will make small changes to the initial scoring upon review. Generally, finalized results are available for all events no more than one day after completion.
HOW DO I GET PAID?
Once the official results are posted, payouts will begin for each game lobby. Obviously, the winner of a lobby receives the largest payout. In games with large numbers of players, many of the top performers will receive a smaller sum, much like Sit and Go tournaments work in poker.
