Benji “Razor” Radach vs. Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith
Benji “Razor” Radach and Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith are set to meet in the sort of Middleweight showdown where viewers would be well advised not to blink. Both men have serious knockout power and like to stand and bang, so this one is almost guaranteed to end in spectacular fashion.
Benji Radach, who most recently upped his stock with an impressive stint in the International Fight League, is a dangerous striker to say the least. He has ended 15 of his 19 wins with strikes, and considering that he holds wins over the likes of Murilo “Ninja” Rua and Gerald Harris, that is an impressive feat. If there is a weakness in Radach’s standup game, it is that he is sort of a paper cannon. It’s obvious that he has the power to knock out anyone, but all four of his losses are by TKO. Considering that Smith’s nickname, “Hands of Steel”, is well earned, this could prove problematic for Benji Radach.
Scott Smith, a veteran of both UFC and WEC, has “Hands of Steel” and a chin made of granite. He has only been stopped with strikes twice, once by James Irvin at Light Heavyweight and more recently by Robbie Lawler. There is no question what Smith’s gameplan will be in this, or any, fight. He will go toe to toe with Radach and willingly eat shots to give them back.
Since there’s no question this fight is gonna be a slugfest, the outcome basically hinges on who has better standup. To my mind, Smith has superior power and, more importantly, a superior chin. Radach is more vulnerable to a knockout, and that’s all that matters. Smith by second round KO.
