Fight Night 18: Junie Browning vs. Cole Miller Prediction

Junie Browning vs. Cole Miller

The opening bout of the televised card pits well-known Ultimate Fighter bad boy Junie Allen Browning against American Top Team submission wiz Cole “Magrino” Miller.

Miller has been a staple at 155 pounds for a few years now, while Browning will be looking to replace his reputation as an all-talk TV show jackass with a reputation as a real fighter.

Anyone who saw The Ultimate Fighter Season 8 may well wonder why Browning is on the card at all. On the show, he wowed audiences with his poor behavior and repeated violent outbursts. As memorable as his antics were, his fights were nothing to write home about. He looked middling at best in his win over Rolando Delgado, and looked worse than that in his loss to Efrain Escudero.

On the finale show, Browning’s striking and grappling both looked substantially improved, but one decent fight against another loser from the show hardly seems to justify his inclusion on the televised card. The name of the game is ratings, though, and so throwing a glass cup at your teammates is just as good as throwing a mean high kick in the Octagon, apparently.

Luckily for anyone who takes the sport of Mixed Martial Arts seriously, Cole Miller seems poised to halt Browning’s UFC stint before it even gets rolling. Put simply, Miller is a far better fighter than Browning. He has far more experience against better competition, has a much more complete skill set, and is a far more mature human being. To dissect this bout would be meaningless, as it’s nothing but a spectacle designed to drum up some extra points in the ratings. Miller is there because he deserves it, Browning is a sideshow.

The results will play this out, as Miller will submit Browning, probably in the opening round.
