UFC202 which is scheduled to happen in Las Vegas gets ever more exciting as Carlos Condit Vs Demian Maia becomes the latest addition to the fight card making it yet another high profile welterweight fight to feature in UFC202.
Carlos Condit was the former interim champion and has an impressive record of 30 wins and 9 losses in the MMA and 7 wins to 5 losses in UFC. Condit is just coming out of a title loss in order to face off against an equally matched Demian Maia. Maia has a pretty decent record himself with 23 wins and 6 losses in the MMA and 17 wins and 6 losses in the UFC. Both fighters are expected to weigh in right around the 170 pound mark.
UFC 202 will take place of UFC 202 on August 20 at the T –Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The headline fight for UFC202 will be the heavily anticipated fight where Conor McGregor takes on Nate Diaz. The fight will be televised on both FOX sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass on a pay per view basis.
As per the latest rankings released in the USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie MMA Welterweight rankings, Maia is placed in rank number 7 and Condit occupies rank 9.
Back in January, Condit faced off against Robbie Lawler in UFC 195, but lost by unanimous decision and the fight was termed “Fight of the night”. Prior to UFC 195 Condit actually took the welterweight championship when he beat Nick Diaz in UFC fight night 143.
On the other hand, Maia has been in impeccable form with five straight wins to his name, however, he will have to win against Condit and make it six wins in a row if he is to get a title shot. Prior to his winning run, Maia suffered back to back losses against Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald.
After the Condit VS Maia announcement came through, UFC202 fight card now includes Nate Diaz VS Conor McGregor, Anthony Johnson Vs Glover Teixeira, Donald Cerrone VS Rick Story and Carlos Condit VS Demian Maia.
