UFC Fight Night 115 is around the corner and is scheduled to occur at the Ahoy Rotterdam come September 2nd. The fight card so far looks promising and one fight on there is wherein Stefan Struve takes on Alexander Volkov in the heavyweight division. It has been marketed and touted as one of the most anticipated fights of not just the night but this part of the year. So how do we think this fight will unfold and who should bet your money on?
Let’s take a closer look at Struve and his recent form. He will step into this fight with a pretty impressive record of 28 – 8. Of his 28 wins, he has 8 knockouts to his name. Struve is a monster at 7’0” and weighed in at 265 lbs. Considering his huge frame and substantial mass, sheer physical strength is certainly something he relies on as one of his biggest strengths.
On the other end of the octagon, is a Volkov with a marginally better record of 28 – 6. He also is better in terms of how many knockouts he has been able to dish out. He has a 64% knockout record. At 6’7” he is usually the taller one, but in this case, the height advantage is with his opponent. Volkov is also the lighter fighter at 240 lbs. However, it is pretty undeniable that Volkov has the upper hand when the fight hits the floor. His ground game is solid. Additionally, he is pretty accurate and deadly with his hits while on two feet as well. He is well rounded fighter with quick and powerful hands.
In terms of weaknesses, Struve is not one who can take a hit. Despite his stature, he has been knocked out six times thus far in his career. Volkov will be looking to make it seven come September.
Volkov isn’t exactly flawless either, while he is better on the canvas, he does not know how to get his opponent there. His take downs are average at best.
All things considered, Stefan Struve should come out on top in this clash, by our analysis.
