Nate Loughran v. Tim Credeur
Fans of submission fighting should be excited for the scheduled matchup which pits Nate Loughran, in his second UFC fight, against Ultimate Fighter alum Tim Credeur. Both men are accomplished and skilled grapplers, and this matchup promises to be a clinic in Brazilian Jiu Jitu.
Loughran, a name not immediately familiar to the casual observer, has nevertheless proven that he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the ground game. Competing primarily on smaller shows until recently, Loughran has not only put together an unblemished 9-0 record, he has finished eight of his nine opponents by submission, and has yet to go past the second round in any of his fights. Considering his impressive grappling resume, the safe bet is that Loughran will look tirelessly for the takedown and try to work his submission game.
His opponent, Ultimate Fighter also-ran Tim Credeur, is an equally skilled grappler, which should make this fight interesting. A well-respected black belt with his own impressive list of submission victories, Credeur has only tasted defeat twice in his career, to excellent fighters Joey Villasenor and Chael Sonnen. In his last outing, Credeur shocked many fans by scoring a knockout over dangerous Muay Thai striker Cale Yarbrough. In the end, I think Credeur’s ability to stand and trade, while not overwhelming, will make the difference in this fight.
As evenly matched as the two appear to be on the ground, Credeur’s striking should be the extra help he needs to help him score points and secure dominant position on his way to a unanimous decision victory.
