Amir Sadollah vs. Nick Catone
In a battle of promising rookies, recent Ultimate Fighter winner Amir Sadollah, 1-0 in his young professional career, will face another up and coming fighter, Ring of Combat veteran Nick Catone, who also has an undefeated professional record on the line at 5-0.
Amir Sadollah’s one professional fight came on the Ultimate Fighter Seven finale, in which he armbarred well-rounded fighter CB Dolloway for the second time in a row. Definitely an underdog on the show,
Sadollah defied all the odds and secured the vaunted “six figure” contract with his performance. A rugged striker and skilled grappler, Sadollah’s heart and determination helped him conquer a string of physically superior opponents.
That experience will no doubt come in handy against the physically superior Catone, an extremely accomplished Division 1 All-American wrestler who has parlayed his amateur wrestling background into MMA success, using the tried and true “take them down and ground and pound them” formula that has worked for so many wrestlers before him.
The big question in this fight is how much submission defense Catone has picked up. Considering he is a jiu jitsu purple belt who has been training since 2005, it is a safe bet that Catone at least understands the basics.
That said, his superior physique, wrestling, and experience should allow him to secure the takedown and control the inexperienced Sadollah from the top. Catone by unanimous decision.
