Live on Saturday October 18, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (48-5-1) will square off with the undefeated Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik (34-0). Pavlik will be moving up 10 pounds to face Hopkins at 170 pounds, five ponds under the light heavyweight limit. The much younger Pavlik will be facing a different Hopkins than he once was. At 43 Hopkins is no longer a boxer, but a thinker, strategizer, and will look to frustrate Pavlik to a possibly boring fight with a decision victory.
Hopkins is still a very skilled boxer and has said even at 43 his motivation to fight and train hard is back. Hopkins has seen and fought very tough competition throughout his career and will be ready for Pavlik. Pavlik is a fan favorite and his youth and skill will tell us where he stands after this fight. This has the potential of becoming a boring fight for fans, but look for Pavlik to stay calm and take the fight to Hopkins.
