Chris Lytle vs. Paul Taylor
Chris “Lights Out” Lytle (35-16-4) will meet up with another Englishmen on the fight card in Paul Taylor (9-3-1)
Lytle is a crafty veteran with over 50 fights to his name. He recently signed a four fight contract extension with the UFC. Even though Chris has lost five of his last seven fights, he has proven to the UFC and fans he is worth keeping around. Lytle rarely puts on a dull performance and is always looking to end his fights.
Lytle’s most recent defeat was a bloody mess thanks to Josh Koscheck, who opened up some big cuts on Lytle’s face due to a lethal ground and pound. However this did not faze Lytle at all and he kept on fighting with an eventual loss via unanimous decision. Chris is an excellent boxer with precise shot placement and a good ground game. He has seventeen submission victories along with four knock outs.
Paul Taylor tasted victory in his UFC debut back in April 2007 and then lost the next two fights respectively to Marcus Davis and Paul Kelly. Kelly’s most recent fight was a split decision win over Jess Laudin at UFC 85. He will need a big win here over Lytle to keep the UFC interested in his stock. He is a great striker and punches with bad intentions. He is young with tons of heart and excellent cardio. I see Taylor coming into this fight looking to box with Lytle throughout. He will not tire out and enjoys a good scrap.
I see that Lytle’s experience and depth will be the difference here and will out strike Taylor to a third round TKO.
