Jake Shields (21-4-1) and Englishman Paul “Semtex” Daley (18-6-2) are set to face off in a classic grappler vs. striker showdown, a formula that might be intriguing were it not for the titanic gap in skill between the two fighters.
Paul Daley, a Muay Thai fighter who has mainly fought in England’s Cage Rage events, is certainly a talented fighter, but has never really stepped up against real world class opposition. The biggest win of his career thus far is a KO of MMA’s version of Glass Joe, Duane “Bang” Ludwig.
Jake Shields, on the other hand, is nothing if not world class. I doubted him last time, and was made to look like a fool when he completely embarrassed Nick “The Goat” Thompson. The ease with which he submitted Thompson, who is an accomplished grappler himself, was nothing short of extraordinary.
If he took down and submitted a fighter like Nick Thompson so easily, poor Paul Daley does not stand a chance. Shields by submission in round 1. Shields vs Daley odds
